En 1925, siendo Presidente del Salón Frégoli el pintor Francisco Bonnín Guerín, decide la Junta que éste dirigía, por unanimidad, cambiar el nombre de la Sociedad y ajustar sus fines a los establecidos en unos nuevos estatutos, que ceñían exclusivamente sus actividades al fomento de las artes, siguiendo las pautas marcadas por el Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid. A partir de esta fecha y salvo el lapso de tiempo comprendido entre 1954 y 1960, período en que fue construido el actual edificio social, y posteriormente, con motivo de la remodelación de la Sala de Exposiciones que pasó a denominarse Eduardo Westerdhal, el Círculo ha permanecido abierto al público, incluso en los años que duró la Guerra Civil.
El Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife, ha sido la sede, casi única, de cuantos eventos artísticos, literarios, teatrales y cinematográficos, tuvieron lugar en la isla, hasta la década de los setenta, convirtiéndose en un foro permanente de discusión y progreso intelectual. En su sección de Literatura surgieron algunas de las más importantes revistas canarias del siglo XX, desde Gaceta de Arte hasta Gánigo, pasando por Mensaje. Y si la primera ha obtenido un reconocimiento internacional, las otras constituyen un ejemplo de lucha por los valores literarios en tiempos adversos. El Círculo albergó la discutida Exposición de Objetos Surrealistas, al tiempo que en el Ateneo de Tenerife se celebraba su homónima de Pintura y Escultura, así como la 2ª Exposición Surrealista, organizada también por Westerdhal.
